About the Second Chance Center for Animals

Second Chance Center for Animals (SCCA) was opened in 2004 and funded by the Robert T. Wilson Foundation. We are a private, non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization funded by charitable donations and fees for services. We do not receive tax revenue or other government funding.

Vision Statement

We envision a society that has progressed to place compassion and welfare for all animals at the forefront of the human-animal relationship while respecting cultural diversity and traditions.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide opportunities for a quality life for homeless and unwanted companion animals and to provide resources to enhance the human-animal bond.

Our Services

-SCCA rescues from other rescue organizations to help reduce euthanasia and
provide these animals a second chance for a forever home.
-pet adoptions, in-house and off-site
-humane education
-pet behavior training and resources
-low-cost spay/neuter surgeries
-low-cost vaccination  and microchip clinics

Our Philosophy

SCCA is committed to saving all healthy and treatable animals under our care. SCCA does not euthanize healthy, treatable and adoptable dogs or cats. We take in hundreds of homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens every year from the euthanasia lists of other organizations in Arizona and from Native American lands in and around Northern Arizona. We strive to find loving, responsible “forever homes” for these animals, and provide their new guardians with the information they need to provide the best possible long-term care.
