Sasha Living her #ForeverFriday

Every Friday we highlight one of our Second Chance Center for Animals Alumni who is out living their #ForeverFriday and the good life. This #ForeverFriday we give a HUGE shout out to  Sasha, a senior butterscotch and white Rough Collie mix, who has a new home and over 200 seniors to faun over her at The Peaks.

Leah Veschio, Director of Community Outreach at the Peaks Senior Living Community has spent the past year looking for the right match for the senior resident community. Sasha, one of the Ruff dogs from Kingman, just happened to be the right fit as our Fospice (Fostering + Hospice) care program representative. Fospice is where we place senior dogs and cats, who normally languish in a shelter, in a residential environment so they simply live out their golden years with lots of love. Second Chance continues to provide food and veterinary care.

During Sasha’s introductory visit to “The Peaks” she won over the hearts of residents and staff. One female resident, who had a reputation of being particularly crotchety, appeared at Ms. Veschio’s office and stated that she had heard there was a dog in the director’s office. Ms. Veschio replied yes and introduced the woman to Sasha. With tears in her eyes, the woman shared that when she moved to The Peaks she had to give up her pet dog.

Sasha went home to a new kennel, new beds in all of the departments, residents bringing her new toys, and people lining up to brush and walk her. Life is good for Sasha and the residents and staff at The Peaks Senior Living Community.

A big thank you to The Peaks, Jamey Hasapis and the rest of our adoptions team for making this great success story possible.
